(Indianapolis, 1962) Ha studiato tromba classica e jazz alla Berklee School of Music, nelle Universitá dell' Indiana e del Nord Colorado, fra le scuole di jazz americane piú rinomate. Ha conseguite le prime due lauree fra il 1984 e 1987 in tromba classica e pedagogia della musica sotto la guida di William Adam e David Baker, due fra i piu' importanti insegnanti degli Stati Uniti. Nel 1995 ha conseguito il dottorato in Trumpet Performance e Pedagogia del Jazz. Nel 1990 Dr. Gregory ha ricevuto dal Governo americano il prestigioso Fullbright Grant per la sua ricerca svolta in Ungheria in Pedagogia musicale e improvvisazione. Per cinque anni ha ricoperto la cattedra di studi jazzistici presso l'Universitá Bradley a Peoria, Illinois, dirigendo le big band, i combo, i corsi di storia del jazz, e i corsi di composizione e improvisazione, sviluppando nuovi metodi per stimolare la creatività dei suoi studenti. Ha insegnato anche il repertorio classico come professore di tromba. Oltre a tenere seminari internazionali, è attivo come solista e direttore dell'orchestre di jazz sulla scena jazzistica americana ed europea. Ha collaborato con noti artisti jazz e pop internazionale fra cui Paul Motian, Louis Sclavis, J.J. Johnson, Dianne Reeves, Bob Mintzer, The Spinners, The Temptations, Liza Minnelli, Buddy DeFranco, Terell Stafford, The Chicago Jazz Ensemble e insieme con Paolo Birro, Roberto Dani e Salvatore Maiore nell suo quartetto, "Sing Without Words." Si è trasferito con la sua famiglia a Verona nel 1998 per iniziare un nuovo capitolo nella sua carriera nella scena Jazz europea. |
